There are three places where you can be found on Google

Google Ads – at the top

Google My Business Listing – in the map pack

Organic Listing – under the map pack
As 90% of people that search for products or services don’t go past page 1 of Google, it is important to rank in one of these three.

How can you develop your Google My Business Profile?

As only 3 businesses are listed in the map pack, getting your Google Business Listing shown can be difficult especially if you have set it up and then left it. But don’t worry if that’s what you have done, as nearly every business is in the same position, which is actually a good thing for you. If your competition hasn’t utilised their Google My Business listing, then by doing so you are in a better position to appear in the map pack.

Business Details on Google My Business

I can work with you to develop your Google My Business listing, as there are many ways to develop it. We all know that Google like to see good content, but it also likes to see consistency. Which is why the details on your Google Business Profile needs to be the same as your website.

This means all details from address, contact details, Business name and opening times.

Services on Google Listing

If you offer services, then you should list the services in your Google Profile, you can also list what areas you cover, you can list multiple areas, you don’t have to just list the town or county that you are based in.

Products on Google My Business

If you sell products, you can now list your products, including photos, descriptions and prices, if you want to add these.

Reviews on Google

Get more Google reviews, this will help your listing. Your Google My Business Profile will also pull through reviews from other sites such as Facebook, Which and any other review website. So even if you don’t have any google reviews, if you have some elsewhere that will help.

Google can list your Events

If you hold events and list them on event websites such as Eventbrite, your Google Business Page will also pull the events through and list them on your profile. Even if you get very few enquiries from events listed on Eventbrite, it is still worth listing them, as they can also appear in google search results.

Did you know Eventbrite rates high on page 1 of Google for event searches?

Posting to Google Business Page

You can post to your Google Business Profile and each post will appear for 7 days, so create content and post it the same as you would on any social media platform. When you create a post in Google My Business, you can post links back to your website, or even a call button, so try different approaches, although always ensure if you are linking back to your website, the link is to the relevant page, which may not be your home page.

Messaging on Google My Business

Did you know that you can set up your Google Business profile to accept message? All you need to do is download the Google My Business app on your mobile phone and select to accept messages. This is only visible when a visitor sees your profile on a mobile device, so don’t worry if you can’t see it on a desktop computer.

Opening Times

Ensure that your opening hours are correct and match those on your website, also add special hours, this is for Bank Holidays, to show whether you are open or not.
Hopefully you have found this useful to help develop your Google Business Listing, if you would like more help, then please follow one of the links below
